Dwyane Wade, Bulls Reach Buyout Agreement

Dwyane Wade will be joining the Cleveland Cavaliers after agreeing to a buyout with the Chicago Bulls.

Wade became an unrestricted free agent after he agreed to a contract buyout with the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.

At this stage of his career and with the talent of the rest of the squad surrounding him, it would have been difficult for Wade to get starting minutes at the Warriors. Previously, Chicago's front office was hesitant to buyout Wade and preferred to trade his US$23.8 million (AU$29.8 million) expiring salary. The King, who seemed to be in good spirits, says having Wade on the team feels like seeing a friend in a classroom full of strangers. Though Wade remained a force with the Bulls, the superstart wants to get another championship before he retires.

"He adds another championship DNA, another guy with high basketball IQ, another playmaker that can make plays and also make shots", James said to reporters during a Wednesday press conference. "These last three weeks, I've been able to be with this training staff six days a week and focused on getting my strength back in that muscle".

James would go about doing his thing as usual, but it would take a monumental effort for him (even by his great standards) to take the team all the way.

While many thought they would be seeing Carmello Anthony in a Cavs jersey, LeBron admitted he hoped Anthony could join them as well, but we all know how that turned out.

He had his pick of teams to sign with, and the final list reportedly included the Heat, Cavaliers, Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs. "Chicago holds a very special place in my heart and will always be home to me". In response, the Cavaliers struggled to find a consistent third scoring option after James and Kyrie Irving.

Wade, an eight-time All-NBA honoree, spent 13 of his 14 seasons with the Heat and won three championships with the franchise. As Bobby Marks mentions above, the Cavaliers barely have more than the minimum to offer Wade. Everyone wants to play for Gregg Popovich (except LaMarcus Aldridge). "It's more about our hopes for where he ends up eventually".
