INSTANT ANALYSIS: Cowboys vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen and tight end Huter Henry: Allen was targeted 14 times and caught 11 passes for 172 yards and a 42-yard, fourth-quarter touchdown.Henry had five catches for 76 yards and one touchdown. If the Los Angeles offense can continue this kind of play in the coming weeks, this team will definitely be hard to eliminate from playoff contention.

It doesn't help that the Cowboys are playing without their best offensive player, running back Ezekiel Elliott, who accepted his six-game suspension Nov. 15 after fighting it for the first half of the season and won't return until Week 16.

It is safe to say that the Los Angeles kicking efforts on the day were a bit of a fiasco.

Philip Rivers completed 27 of 33 passes for 434 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Time and again Romo called for Dak Prescott, his successor as the Cowboys quarterback, to go deep to Bryant and plant the ball behind him. One of the reasons for Prescott's poor performance was of course the San Diego pass rush. Well, the odds of that happening are beyond slim.

But even when Prescott hit Bryant in the hands with a back shoulder pass for an apparent touchdown, Bryant dropped it. Novak connected on one of two extra points and also missed an early field goal attempt. Approaching age 37 and continuing to recover from a back injury he suffered in the 2016 preseason, Romo moved on from football in April when he announced his retirement.

"The last thing I am doing is pointing a finger and saying we need this guy or we need that to happen", the 24-year-old Prescott said.

At one point in the season the Chargers had the second-worst run defense in the league. Cleveland, which visits in-state rival Cincinnati this weekend, has nothing to lose at this point in the season.
